Where does one begin when making landscaping decisions?  For starters, it's important to know both what one's immediate goals are and how to relate these goals to the big picture.   Obviously, if you're starting from scratch, so to speak...either landscaping a new home or completely replacing your existing scheme, this may present the greatest task in terms of actual labor and investment, yet it is arguably the easiest from a planning perspective, simply because you are beginning with a clean slate.

The greatest challenge many times is how to complement portions of an existing landscape that you want to keep when it's been decided updating is necessary.  Clearly, installing very small plants next to mature stock can upset the balance, yet finding just the right larger plants can prove both time-consuming and expensive.

Whatever your needs, if you'd like to sit down and share your thoughts or solicit ours, feel free to contact us anytime.  Quite honestly, landscaping is by far our favorite aspect of all that we do in connection with Lawn Express and we therefore always look forward to new opportunities to put our creativity to work!

Below are a few examples from jobs we've done, of both complete landscapes and smaller property enhancements:

The above photo is from a pool area with an existing mature perennial bed that the owners wished to complement with additional beds when creating the structure pictured.  These new beds featured a mix of additional perennials, evergreen shrubs and ornamental deciduous trees to create a full spectrum of color and texture.  The area on the right shows the mature bed already in place; the center and left represent new plantings.

A wider view of the new plantings...

...and another of the previously existing area, plus selected pieces added to augment it...

Here we have yet another angle of the new plantings, one that leads into a pool house that was also re-landscaped as part of this project...

Next we have another pool area landscape, this one installed "from scratch", immediately following the pool and surrounding patio's construction...the following photos show various portions of this very large area (we will update with an overview at some point down the road -- unfortunately, we don't have any such photos at this time).  Again, a mix of perennials and shrubs were combined with lawn areas to create diversity...

And, to aid in preserving the appearance of a natural environment, a screen of Arborvitae was installed to hide the pool filter and controls (keep in mind this photo was taken soon after planting; in just a couple years, these will form a solid wall)...

Next we have a complete property makeover...created by removing the entire old landscape and starting fresh with new ideas -- from a bed surrounding the sign...

...to all areas extending across the front of the building...

What's more, it should be noted that all plants used in this particular landscape are deer-resistant as this is a high-traffic area for these animals...

However, that restriction doesn't have to impair creativity, as evidenced by use of such interesting exotics as this Green Mountain Juniper (backed by Yews)...

...and a lovely Baccheri Spruce (surrounded by hearty and attractive pyramidal Boxwoods)...

...all fronted by the inviting color of Golden Barbeary...
